Austin Cooper S Mk1 (1966) One Previous Owner

Welcome to the sale of this stunning Cooper S Mk1 finished in Island Blue with a Snowberry White roof.

The Mini Cooper S needs no introduction. Famous for the integrity of its engineering, handsome looks, and giant-killing handling, it slew all before it, winning praise from drivers, vanquished competitors, pundits, and spectators, all of whom keep it close to their hearts even now. The Mini Cooper 1275S MKI came along in 1964, bringing with it a useful increase in power and, more importantly, a lot more torque. The 0-60mph time tumbled by a whopping three seconds from 13.5 seconds to 10.5 and the Mini was now capable of 97mph, or 100mph with a following wind and a brave driver. The power and torque outputs might be relatively modest compared to today’s cars but the engine only had only to haul 686kgs, which means that not only is the Mini surprisingly quick but the larger front disc brakes, cooled by ventilated steel wheels, are stunningly effective and the twin fuel tanks gave the Cooper S a far greater range than was possible before. But the real reason for the Mini’s success at the hands of folk like Paddy Hopkirk was that most corners could be taken completely flat…

This Cooper S was originally sold buy Car Mart Limited London on 31/03/1966 to Mr Frank Boardman who then owned the Mini right up to 2016 when the second owner purchased the car. The second owner then set about restoring the Mini back to a condition where it could be used for the odd show and blast around the country lanes. The Mini was taken back to a bare as it needed minimal welding but in reality its the only way to do it correctly. The 1275 engine was fully rebuilt to a standard spec including the gearbox, cylinder head now runs on unleaded fuel which is a bonus. Fitted with 1.5 ” carbs to give a little more power and special sound as you go down the road. Interior is all brand new including the headlining which has all been fitted by a professional trimmer.

There is a small amount of paperwork with the Mini which includes a heritage certificate, V5C, and some old invoices.

Can be delivered at extra cost to Uk/Europe
